Dan’s Restaurant and Tap House opens, 10 minutes from Inn at Red Hill

New Restaurant in Boonsboro Opens; Ribbon Cutting Held for Dan’s Restaurant and Tap House

(Boonsboro, MD) – A new restaurant has opened in Washington County. Dan’s Restaurant and Tap House held a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday June 11th.

The restaurant was under construction for several months on the square in Boonsboro, and is about twice the size of the previous business at that location.

Daniel Aufdem-Brinke and his wife Charlotte have created a warm and inviting restaurant. With total seating for about 100 people, the restaurant features two sections: the tap house bar and the restaurant.

The restaurant is already popular, and on opening day, there were patrons from Northern Virginia,  Washington, DC and its suburbs, as well as from the local area.

Daniel Aufdem-Brinke, is the son of best-selling author and Washington County resident Nora Roberts. Roberts, her husband Bruce Wilder, and several elected officials from Boonsboro and Washington County attended the ribbon cutting. Mayor Skip Kauffman, Commissioner Jeff Cline, Boonsboro Economic Development Chairman Dick Keesecker, and CVB President and CEO Tom Riford spoke at the opening ceremonies, and thanked the new restaurant’s ownership and staff.


Dan Aufdem-Brinke thanked his wife, and family, his staff including the general manager Danny Hardy and the chef Steve Weaver. “This has been a long and challenging project. I invite everyone to come to what is actually two newly remodeled buildings on Boonsboro’s Square. We have a mission to showcase the best in local breweries, vineyards and farms as well as a taste of what the world has to offer. Our family wants our guests to relax in this warm and friendly atmosphere of our Tap House and sample an excellent selection of 24 craft beers.”

Interestingly, a camera crew from Washington, DC was on hand to video the event, and interviewed several people, including Nora Roberts.

The menu is extensive, and Chef Steve Weaver has chosen to focus on locally grown and raised produce. “Local, organic, and fresh,” is the motto of Chef Steve. “We have pledged to try to have everything on the menu, down to the lettuce all the way up to the beef and seafood dishes, to try and be 100% local as well as organic and hormone free.”
